Education with Meaning

Across School Areas

A holistic approach that supports the physical, emotional, creative and digital development of each student

Physical and Mental Balance

Sports

At St. Andrew’s School, we believe sport is a fundamental pillar of holistic education. From Form I, all students participate weekly in Physical Education and practise sports such as football, rugby, hockey and athletics.

We promote core values such as respect, empathy, cooperation, leadership, commitment and responsibility. We encourage self-awareness and personal development, foster active lifestyles and provide comprehensive preparation for competition at a technical, physical and mental level.

Each year, we celebrate key events such as Sports Day, where students compete representing their houses in different athletic disciplines.

These experiences strengthen the sense of community, belonging and healthy competition, making sport a meaningful part of school life both inside and outside the classroom.

Emotional Wellbeing

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

We aim to develop individuals who understand themselves, trust their abilities, build healthy habits, make responsible decisions, manage emotions effectively and form strong relationships.

How do we achieve this?
  • A dedicated weekly SEL curriculum space
  • Workshop-based classes
  • Participation of external specialists
  • Cross-curricular integration
  • Ongoing support and guidance for families
Dual purpose:
  • To provide students with tools to navigate adolescence in a healthy and meaningful way
  • To build strong foundations for their future personal and professional development
Creativity, Expression and Tradition

Arts

At St. Andrew’s School, the arts hold a central place in our holistic approach. We foster creativity, self-expression and cultural appreciation throughout Primary.

Among our most distinctive traditions are the Scottish Dances, connecting students with the school’s heritage. From Form I to Form VI, students learn and practise these dances, culminating in the annual exhibition—one of the most anticipated events of the year.

A particularly meaningful moment is when Form VI students perform the Eightsome Reel alongside their parents, symbolising community and belonging.

The arts programme is further enriched through drama and music, with students participating in school plays and singing exhibitions. These experiences develop confidence, stage presence and teamwork, while creating meaningful moments to share with the school community.

Digital Learning for the Future

IT & Robotics

At St. Andrew’s School, IT and Robotics are part of an educational approach that prepares students to understand and engage with an increasingly digital world.

From Form I, students attend a weekly class where they progressively develop technological skills, learning to use digital tools effectively and responsibly. Technology is also integrated across subjects as a means to research, create and reinforce learning.

From the early years, Robotics introduces students to computational thinking, starting with simple concepts that gradually become more complex. Through programming, problem-solving and teamwork, students develop logic, creativity and autonomy.

This learning takes place in a well-equipped technological environment, including computer labs and classroom resources, promoting a conscious and meaningful use of technology.

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities complement academic learning, offering students the opportunity to explore interests, develop skills and strengthen relationships in a different setting.

Optional and outside school hours, these activities include both sports and cultural disciplines that promote teamwork, perseverance and enjoyment of learning.
